Aurora Alaska Fairbanks Photo Tours and Workshops
Join us for an instructional photography tour and workshop in Fairbanks, Alaska, one of the top locations in the world to view and photograph the aurora borealis (northern lights).
We schedule our visit in March for good reason. March is typically one of the best times of year for aurora activity. It also offers some of the clearest skies of the season, giving us a better chance to view and photograph the lights.
Of course, sightings of the aurora can never be guaranteed. However, this location, time of year, and our scheduling around the new moon all help maximize the odds. On past tours, we’ve been fortunate to see the aurora every trip and on most nights. Some of our participants who had previously visited other well-known aurora destinations, such as Iceland or Churchill, reported having little success there due to cloud cover or less favorable timing.
Below are helpful links, photos, and video clips from our Aurora Photo Tours with Astrophotographer John Chumack.
